Posita privacy policy
Last updated: October 4, 2026
Posita shows your GPS position on Apple Watch and iPhone, at sea and in the mountains. This policy explains what data it uses and where it goes.
In short
- Posita has no account, contains no analytics, advertising or tracking, and uses no third-party services.
- We run no servers: no data ever reaches us.
- Coordinates are not saved: Posita does not record your track.
- The only thing that leaves your device is the weather request to Apple (see below).
Location
Posita asks for location access only “while using the app”, never “always”. It uses your location to show coordinates, accuracy, course and speed, and to work out offline which country you are in, so it can show the right emergency numbers.
On Apple Watch, during a trip that you start, Posita keeps reading your location with your wrist down until you end the trip.
Weather (Apple WeatherKit)
On Apple Watch, when a connection is available, Posita asks Apple WeatherKit for the current weather where you are. The request contains only an approximate location, rounded to about 1 km, never your precise one, and is sent at most once every 20 minutes. Apple handles it under its privacy policy. The weather received is kept in memory only and never saved.
What stays on your device
- Trip log (Apple Watch): a technical log to improve battery use, with time, GPS accuracy, speed, type of movement (still, walking, cycling, in a vehicle), battery level and distance from your last stop. It contains no coordinates. You can erase it at any time from the trip log screen in Posita on Apple Watch.
- Altitude: the latest barometer readings (4 hours at most), for altitude and the weather trend.
- Settings: watch face, complications and coordinate format.
This data is never sent to us. If you turn on device backup (iCloud), it may be included in your own backup.
Motion and sensors
Posita uses the barometer for altitude and, during a trip, motion detection to save battery while you are not moving. This data also stays on your device.
Emergency calls
Posita never calls anyone or sends your position on its own. If you tap an emergency number, your phone or watch opens a normal call.
Purchases
Posita is free to download. Any in-app purchases are handled by Apple under its privacy policy: we never see your payment details, name or email.
Deleting your data
You can erase the trip log in the app. Uninstalling Posita deletes all of its data from your device.
Children
Posita is not directed at children under 13 and collects no one’s data.

Changes
If a new version of Posita changes how it uses data, we update this page and the date at the top before releasing it.
